Miranda Priestly doesn't like to move at a glacial pace—but even the editor-in-chief of Runway has to deal with pandemic-related schedule changes. The Broadway-aimed stage adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada will now hold its world premiere engagement July 19–August 21, 2022, at the James L. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago.
The show features music by Elton John, lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, a book by Paul Rudnick, music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo, and direction by Anna D. Shapiro. Producing with Kevin McCollum are Rocket Entertainment, with the production presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
Show delays have become the derigueur operations for theatres around the world as of late due to the coronavirus. Dr. Anthony Fauci said as recently as this week that theatres may be able to re-open in fall of this year.

The move comes after the resignation of the theatre's 2020 cohort, along with its artistic director and board chair, citing similar allegations about a lack of transparency and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
